Job summary

Gulfport Behavioral Health System, a UHS facility, seeks a PRN Mental Health Technician to be an active part of the treatment team. You will provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling for patients from children to geriatrics on assigned units.

Shifts include 7a-3p, 3p-11p, or 11p-7a under RN supervision. Education: HS diploma; preferred degree in social work, recreation therapy or related field.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; related degree desirable.
• One year of psychiatric care experience preferred.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients across age ranges.
• Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Gulfport Behavioral Health System, is a 90-bed psychiatric hospital offering child, adolescent, adult and military service behavioral health programs and treatment services.

Position Summary:

Join a team where the PRN Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from children through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. MHT's work under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Mental Health Tech shifts are 8 hour shifts 7a-3p, 3p-11 pm, or 11p-7a.

Qualifications

Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred. Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline desirable.

Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.

Additional Requirements: Successful achievement of pre-employment online assessment. Successful completion of CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training. Certifications may be obtain during new hire orientation. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
