Southeast Behavioral Hospital, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a Mental Health Technician to join a night shift team in Cape Girardeau. You will provide continuous patient care, supervise activities, and model supportive behavior for youths through geriatrics under RN direction.

Education: high school diploma or equivalent; CNA preferred. Requires two years of related experience, valid driver’s license, CPR certification, and completion of required training with 75 hours classroom and

• Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
• Additional Requirements: CPR certification and completion of 75 hours classroom and 100 hours supervised practicum; weekend/overtime and flexible hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients from adolescence to geriatrics.
• Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Collaborate with treatment team to support patient recovery and safety.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescents through geriatrics. All MHT’s work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Degree or equivalent required; Certified Nursing Assistant preferred

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver’s license in the applicable state.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion Management Aggressive Behavior Training, Handle with Care, Service Excellence Training and CPR certification required. MHT’s must successfully complete 75 hours of classroom/computer based instruction and 100 hours of supervised clinical practicum. MHT’s may be required to work weekends, overtime and have flexible hours.
