Job summary

Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking a full-time Mental Health Technician (MHT) and Driver to provide compassionate care to patients hospitalized for psychiatric and emotional disorders. The role also includes safe transportation to and from the facility, supporting the care team, and contributing to individualized patient care plans.

The MHT will coordinate with nursing staff, multitask effectively, and ensure patient safety throughout shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR (American Heart or American Red Cross), Handle with Care and Abuse and Neglect training provided
• Active driver's license required
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting or related fields
• Ability to multi-task with strong time management
• Must pass background check, MVR, drug screen and provide positive references
• Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to 50 lbs

Job description

We are seeking a full-time Mental Health Technician (MHT) and Driver to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients hospitalized for psychiatric and emotional disorders, while also providing safe transportation to and from the facility. The MHT will support the hospital's philosophy of care by fostering a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, maintaining ongoing communication with nursing staff, and actively contributing to the development and implementation of individualized patient care plans.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma/GED required.
• Required certifications: CPR (American Heart or American Red Cross), Handle with Care and Abuse and Neglect (training required and employer provided)
• Required licenses: Active driver's license
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting, phone triage, tele-health or case management or combination of education and experience. Experience in a free-standing psychiatric hospital preferred
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Must be able to multi-task, prioritize with strong time management skills
• Screening: Must successfully pass background check, MVR, drug screen, physical and be able to provide positive employment references
• Physical Demands: With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift, raise and move objects from position to position (up to 50 lbs), finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly; visually detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, assess; perceive the nature of sound with or without correction; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, or fingers
