Job summary

UF Health in Saint Augustine, FL seeks a Mental Health Tech to care for patients on an Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. Under RN supervision, you will support safety, lead milieu groups, and work with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

The role involves monitoring patient mood and physical changes, reporting to the nurse, and providing collaborative, compassionate care across shifts, including 7:00pm–7:00am with some weekends.

Qualifications

• Education/Training: High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Experience: 0–1 year in Mental Health Unit/Direct Patient Care
• Preferred: Experience with mental health patients
• Certificates/Licenses: BLS required within 30 days of employment
• WELLE: Completion within 90 days; annual recertification

Responsibilities

The Mental Health Tech provides care, support, supervision and safety for patients on an Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team and under direct supervision of an RN to ensure the provision of quality patient care. Assists in developing and leading milieu groups and activities. Works directly with other staff to provide patient and staff safety. Monitors all patients for any changes in mood, affect and/or physical conditions and reports this to the nurse.

Schedule

• FTE: 0.10 (PRN)
• Hours: 7:00pm-7:00am; with some weekends
• Days: Variable
• Location: St. Augustine, FL

Qualifications

• Education/Training: Required: High School Diploma/Equivalent
• Experience: Required: 0 - 1 year Mental Health Unit/Direct Patient Care
• Preferred: Experience working with patients in a mental health care setting.
• Certificates/Licenses/Registration: Required: Basic Life Support (BLS). provided by American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of employment.
• WELLE Certification. Completion of WELLE training (Non-Abusive Psychological & Physical Intervention) within 90-days of employment; annual re-certification will be required thereafter.
