Job summary

Nationwide Children's Hospital is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Support role for the evenings. The incumbent will perform basic supportive and trauma-informed care under the supervision of a registered nurse or clinical supervisor. Requires a high school diploma and enrollment/completion of half of a Psychology or related undergraduate program.

Two certifications (BLS, TCI, and First Aid) are required within 90 days. One year of hospital mental health experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in and completion of half a Psychology, Social Work, or related undergraduate program, or equivalent experience.
• BLS certification required prior to finishing unit-based orientation (within 90 days).
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification required within 90 days.
• First Aid certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Participates with the interdisciplinary team in specialized patient care. Cares for patient assignment as delegated.
• Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families on the unit and communicates effectively.
• Provides trauma-informed care, uses positive reinforcement, and maintains safety through de-escalation and appropriate interventions.
• Collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans.
• Acts as a resource to staff regarding diagnoses, behavior plans, and crisis management.
