Job summary

Douglas County (NE) is seeking a qualified psychiatric nurse to provide professional care to acutely and chronically ill patients at the Community Mental Health Center. You will work under the Director of Nursing or designee to implement nursing processes, coordinate treatment plans, and support a multidisciplinary team.

The role includes data collection, patient education, supervision of staff, medication administration, and participation in rounds and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, diploma or BSN from an accredited nursing program.
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Nebraska (or compact state) in good standing.
• BLS/CPR certification and CPI training within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical exam required.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional psychiatric nursing care to acutely and chronically ill patients.
• Carry out physicians’ orders and prescribed treatments.
• Collect and report patient data and assess conditions.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans and medications.
• Assist in supervision and training of CMHC staff.
• Admit and assess patients, document vital signs and procedures.

Education

Associate’s degree, Diploma or BSN from an accredited nursing program
