Job summary

Supportive Concepts for Families is hiring a Mental Health Residential Caseworker in Washington, PA. The role provides direct supervision and rehabilitation services to adults with serious mental health conditions in an 8-bed CRRS program.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree (or 60 credit hours) and three (3) years of experience working directly with individuals with mental health and/or co-occurring diagnoses.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Recovery, or Rehabilitation Services may be substituted for college coursework at the discretion of the hiring manager.
  • Excellent communication skills, documentation accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management and follow-through abilities.
  • Understanding of recovery-oriented and person-centered approaches to mental health services.
  • Knowledge of serious mental illness and psychiatric rehabilitation principles.
  • Ability to establish supportive therapeutic relationships with residents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to safely respond to crisis situations.
  • Basic computer proficiency and electronic documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, support, and rehabilitation services to adults with serious and persistent mental health conditions in an 8-bed CRRS program.
  • Assist residents in developing independent living skills including hygiene, housekeeping, and budgeting.
  • Promote recovery-oriented supports that encourage independence and self-determination.
  • Assist residents in developing social, vocational, educational, and recreational skills.
  • Participate in assessments, service planning, and individualized goal development.
  • Monitor resident progress and support achievement of treatment goals.
  • Coordinate with mental health providers, case managers, and family members.

What You'll Do

As a Mental Health Residential Caseworker, you will:

  • Provide direct supervision, support, and rehabilitation services to adults with serious and persistent mental health conditions in an 8-bed Community Residential Rehabilitation Services (CRRS) program.
  • Assist residents in developing and maintaining independent living skills, including personal hygiene, housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, medication self-management, budgeting, money management, and transportation skills.
  • Promote recovery-oriented, person-centered supports that encourage independence, wellness, and self-determination.
  • Assist residents in developing social, vocational, educational, and recreational skills.
  • Participate in assessments, service planning, and individualized goal development.
  • Monitor resident progress and support achievement of treatment and rehabilitation goals.
  • Coordinate with mental health providers, psychiatrists, case managers, family members, and other support services.
  • Assist residents in accessing healthcare, housing, employment, education, and community resources.
  • Observe and document medication self-administration and maintain accurate medication records.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral health crises and safety concerns.
  • Implement crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Ensure the residence remains safe, clean, and compliant with licensing and regulatory standards.
  • Complete documentation including progress notes, daily logs, and incident reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in shift reports, team meetings, case conferences, training activities, and on-call responsibilities.

Schedule
