Job summary

The State of Alaska is seeking a Mental Health Clinician 2 in Anchorage to support individuals transitioning from Department of Corrections custody to felony probation. You will coordinate community-based services and monitor outcomes as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Under supervision, you will liaise with probation, court, and community providers, testify when needed, and contribute to public safety. A Master’s degree in a related field is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, child guidance, vocational rehabilitation, or a closely related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities described in the minimum qualifications.
• Competency descriptions include Analysis and Assessment, Decision Making, Interpersonal Skills, Psychology, and Therapy and Counseling.

Responsibilities

• Identify severely mentally ill individuals transitioning from DOC custody to felony probation in the Anchorage area.
• Plan and coordinate individualized treatment services while promoting public safety and reducing recidivism by arranging community-based services.
• Assess and monitor caseload in the community and communicate with service providers.
• Act as a liaison between DOC mental health, probation, court, and community providers to troubleshoot issues and may testify in court or attend Parole Board hearings.
• Requires clinical knowledge but does not involve providing direct clinical services.
