Job summary

DHRM is seeking a Mental Health Group Technician at Greensville Correctional Center to provide group support services within the Mental Health & Wellness Department. The role includes psycho-educational programming, recreational activities, and data entry into CORIS and other systems.

The position requires QMHP-T eligibility, good documentation skills, and ability to participate in treatment team meetings. Strong communication and basic computer skills are essential in a corrections environment.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and warning signs to be aware of for mental health deterioration.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing and proficient in completing required documentation in a timely manner.
• Ability to participate in treatment team meetings and to support the team's goals and objectives by offering group programs and activities that inmates find engaging and are educational and therapeutic in nature.
• Training and experience in provision of group programming, including psychoeducational and recreational activities.
• Experience in assisting with goal and objectives setting, treatment and behavioral plans.
• Skilled in computer programs such as Microsoft office programs.

Responsibilities

• Position provides group support services to clinical staff in the Mental Health & Wellness Department at a major adult correctional center including psycho-educational programming, recreational activities, and other mental health & wellness related programming.
• Enters relevant data into CORIS and other databases to track group programming assignment and attendance as well as master pass lists.
• Completes documentation in inmate health records and ensures that documentation is completed by the end of the workday.
• Participates in the Mental Health & Wellness department team meetings and implements programming the team and supervisor determine.
• Reports critical mental health needs immediately to the Mental Health Clinician Sr and other mental health staff, if needed as soon as possible.
• May be involved with special projects or programs.
