Job summary

Tarrant County in Texas is seeking an internal coordinator to handle mental-health issues affecting the Criminal Courts. You will manage all mental-health court business, attend hearings, create dockets, and distribute them to appropriate court staff.

You will collaborate with judges, jail personnel and health providers to monitor cases, coordinate transfers when needed, and ensure due process is followed. A high school diploma is required, with a bachelor/associate degree preferred and seven

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s or Associate's degree preferred.
• Seven years related experience.
• Bachelor’s or Associate's degree may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of courts, docket management and due process.

Responsibilities

• Handles all mental-health court business as directed by the judges or magistrates.
• Attends mental-health court proceedings and ensures proper settings per local rules.
• Communicates with local and outside agencies regarding mental health proceedings.
• Creates and generates dockets for mental-health proceedings and distributes to staff.
• Provides information regarding case status and court conflicts.
• Coordinates calendar of activities and maintains schedules for Mental Health Court staff.
• Serves as court coordinator for mental-health proceedings.
• Monitors incoming prisoners with severe mental-health impairment for timely actions.
• Coordinates transfer considerations with jail for medical/mental-health facilities.
• Monitors appointments of psychologists/psychiatrists ensuring reports are filed.
• Coordinates return of defendants from state hospital and schedules hearings when competent.
• Coordinates progress of defendants released on pretrial supervision for medication/bond compliance.
• Serves as a resource to courts for referrals to community resources.
