The Merrimack County Department of Corrections serves the community and its criminal justice system by providing security, supervision, and assistance to persons remanded to our custody. Our policy is to meet or exceed the standards set by the American Correctional Association, the National Commission of Correctional Healthcare, the New Hampshire Association of Counties, and the Merrimack County Board of Commissioners.

The Mental Health Clinician provides mental health counseling and education to offenders under the supervision of the Merrimack County Department of Corrections.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in criminal justice, social services, counseling, or a related field.
  2. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office applications.
  3. At least three years of experience in mental health counseling or a combination of education and experience demonstrating the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  4. Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New Hampshire.
  5. Valid New Hampshire Driver’s License.
  6. A drug screen and criminal background check will be required of all conditional hires.
