POSITION SUMMARY:

The person in this position will be responsible for the planning and coordination of the clinical activities pertaining to mental health services for clients and their families. Interview clients when referred by clinical staff for therapy, conduct assessment and individual, conjoint, couple, and multiple family group counseling as indicated. Essential Job Functions include those listed below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide face-to-face review of ASAM based assessments and reassessments to determine diagnosis and medical necessity for SUD treatment.
  • Plan and coordinate the clinical activities pertaining to co-occurring clients and their families including individual and group counseling and group facilitation.
  • Supervise the screening and assignment of cases referred for co-occurring clients.
  • Assist staff at arriving at solutions to client problems as they relate to mental health issues.
  • Participate in staff meetings and conferences pertaining to client treatment plans and progress in treatment.
  • Participate in discharge planning with clinical staff at the conclusion of therapy.
  • Attend and participate in the diagnostic and technical meetings for cooperative planning and treatment by clinical staff.
  • Participate in staff training as it relates to therapy.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the quality improvement process as it relates to therapy.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Responsible for maintaining the client charts in compliance with agency, state, and any other rules and standards.
  • Must embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Experience and Competencies:

  • Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and treatment is desired.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from LEIE, MSIL, and EPLS.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Fresno County Credentialing.
  • As mandated by the State of California, employees who work at Residential, Outpatient, Sober Living, provide Mental Health Services, Administrative Staff, or Transitional Living Facilities must be fully vaccinated and have received a booster. Employees that have requested a Medical or Religious Exemption, which has been approved by Human Resources, will be required to test for the virus weekly.
  • During your tenure with WestCare, there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur, Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.
  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Intake and assessment experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in using the ASAM Assessment system.
  • Marketing and/or sales experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Drug Medi-Cal is preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited college with a master’s degree in a discipline leading to licensure as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) preferred; registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an AMFT, ASCW or APCC and in good standing is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is primarily performed in an office or in a residential/outpatient treatment setting.
  • Some outdoor activities may be required.
  • UA testing of clients is required.
  • Must be able to de-escalate situations in the program.
