AGENCY DESCRIPTION:

Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc. is a multi-service community health and social service agency. We emphasize serving the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community in San Francisco with a special focus on the diverse needs of the Mission District. Our services include a wide range of mental health, HIV-related services, and social services, including health promotion, education, prevention, early intervention, case management, psychological and psychiatric interventions, and cultural/social and spiritual re-enforcement. Our agency serves children, youth, adults, and families. We have a rich history of working collaboratively with other agencies to meet the needs of the Chicano/Latino/Indígena community and other cultural/racial communities in San Francisco. We accomplish this by providing culturally integrated services rooted in our three pilares: Tú eres mi otro yo, La cultura cura, and Sí se puede.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:

Instituto Familiar de la Raza has open Mental Health Clinician roles across all four of our clinical programs: La Clinica, La Cultura Cura, Sana Sana/SPARK, and Si a la Vida. Please see the brief description of each program below:

  • La Clinica focuses on mental health services and case management services to children, adolescents, adults, and their families.
  • La Cultura Cura primarily servestransitional-aged youth (TAY) from 16 – 24. Clinicians will meet clients and program participants in community or assist them through the juvenile justice system.
  • Sana Sana provides mental health consultation to youth, teachers, and staff in elementary school settings. Sana Sana also houses a subprogram called SPARK that offers therapy and case management to children 0 - 5and their families.
  • Si a la Vida works with the LGBTQIA+ community and offers clinical services to folks living with HIV, many dually diagnosed.

Essential Job Duties: are, but not limited to the following:

  • Conducts mental health assessments, formulates diagnoses according to DSM-5-TR criteria, and creates plans of care with clients.
  • Performs crisis intervention activities as necessary
  • Provides behavioral health and co-occurring substance abuse services to population-specific to each program (i.e., for example, families, adults, adolescents, children, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people living with HIV, caregiver-child dyads, the severely mentally ill, etc.) within a multidisciplinary team
  • Provides direct mental health services and advocacy services as part of the plan of care
  • Collaborates closely, provides consultation, coordinates services, and maintains relationships with other program staff, other programs at IFR, and community agencies to ensure continuity of services
  • Maintains documentation, progress notes, billing, and charts in compliance with HIPPA, MediCal, and other entities
  • Complies with all legal and ethical requirements set forth by professional boards, the policies of the San Francisco Behavioral Health Department, and other pertinent entities
  • Attends CBHS and other pertinent trainings, and implements policies
  • Participates in agency meetings, IFR’s sponsored cultural events, and in meetings with other collaborating agencies.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned and may have additional duties offsite

Required Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology and/or Social Work, or other related fields
  • Must be CA Licensed or license-eligible associate (registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology)
  • Must pass and maintain annual Tuberculosis Test
  • Must pass Department of Justice Fingerprint screening
  • Complete annual recurrent online training

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience providing psychotherapy treatment
  • Proficiency working with EPIC software preferred
  • Ability to provide mental health services to the target population with an emphasis on working with Chicanx/Latinx/Indigenous communities.
  • Experience working with LBGTQ+ individuals and people living with HIV.
  • Capacity to provide trauma-informed services with trauma recovery best practices.
  • Ability to interface with a multidisciplinary care system, including medical providers, case managers, substance abuse counselors, etc.
  • Good written and oral skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule at multiple locations

Education, Certifications, and Licenses:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology or related behavioral sciences
  • Must be license eligible or CA licensed (registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology)

  • Good general health, physical stamina and emotional stability are essential
  • Ability to hear within normal range, and communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population
  • Requires physical ability to sit at keyboard for long periods of time and manual dexterity to operate word processing equipment with skill, speed and accuracy
  • Ability to move quickly to address emergency or potentially dangerous situations
  • Ability to move about the building and the organization as needed
  • Ability to use public and/or private modes of transportation, duties are office based, but travel to various offsite venues is required
  • On occasion must lift up to 35 LBS

CONDITIONS CONTINUED OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must pass and maintain annual Tuberculosis Test
  • Must pass Department of Justice Fingerprint screening (IFR reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check)
  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full time exempt position with benefits; wages for this position are based on an annual salary range, as follows:

The incumbent will be hired as either a Mental Health Clinician, I or Mental Health Clinician, II based on licensure and/or experience.

Mental Health Clinician, I the annual salary range of $80,000.00 - $83,500.00

or

Mental Health Clinician, II the annual salary range of $84,000.00 - $88,000.00

Commensurate with work experience, qualifications, and education

All full-time positions are based on a minimum of (35) thirty-five hours per week.

This is a full-time exempt position at 35 hours a week. The position is eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision, and 403(b) plans, earn vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, two wellness days (birthday and hire date) and receive ongoing opportunities for learning.
