Job summary

Summit Oaks Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Associate (MHA) to join its treatment team on a per diem basis. The role supports patients across age ranges on multiple units, providing supervision, care, and engagement in educational activities.

The MHA will perform vital sign checks, participate in group activities, and respond to codes as needed. Prior psychiatric experience is preferred, with certifications maintained by the hospital.

Qualifications

• B.S. in health related field with one year psychiatric experience, or two years in psychiatric setting with continuing education in mental health preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required; Verbal De-escalation and Handle with Care certifications will be provided by the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient care and supervision as part of the treatment team.
• Interact with patients and model appropriate behaviors across ages from preschool to geriatrics.
• Take vital signs, assist with educational groups and respond to codes as needed.

Our Mental Health Associate (MHA) position presents an ideal opportunity for an energetic, motivated individual with prior experience working with patients with behavioral health or addictions diagnosis. The Mental Health Associate functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, role modeling, and monitoring patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics , depending on the nursing unit assigned. At present, the nursing units include a 28 bed adult psych unit, a 28 bed adult dual diagnosis, a 22 bed child and adolescent unit , a 24 bed detox unit and a 20 bed rehab unit. Other MHA duties include taking vital signs, conducting educational groups and responding to codes.

This is a per diem position that is ineligible for benefits. Opportunities for additional shifts and overtime if interested.

Qualifications

Mental Health Associate (MHA) Job Requirements:

• B.S. in health related field with one year of psychiatric experience, preferably in an inpatient setting; or two years of experience in a psychiatric setting with evidence of participation in continuing education related to mental health preferred.
• Psychiatric inpatient experience for Adults, Adolescents and Dual populations preferred.
• Must maintain CPR and First Aid, Verbal De-escalation and Handle with Care Certifications which will be provided by the Hospital.
