Job summary

Summit Oaks Hospital, a 126 bed private acute care hospital and chemical dependency treatment center, seeks a dedicated Mental Health Associate to join the treatment team. The MHA provides continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, role modeling, and monitoring for patients from preschool to geriatrics on designated units.

Per diem position with no benefits, offering opportunities for extra shifts and overtime.

Qualifications

• B.S. in health related field with one year of psychiatric experience, preferably inpatient.
• Psychiatric inpatient experience for Adults, Adolescents and Dual populations preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, Verbal De-escalation and Handle with Care certifications to be maintained; hospital-provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling.
• Monitor patients across age groups on assigned nursing units; take vitals and respond to codes.
• Participate as active part of treatment team in behavioral health care.

Our Mental Health Associate (MHA) position presents an ideal opportunity for an energetic, motivated individual with prior experience working with patients with behavioral health or addictions diagnosis. The Mental Health Associate functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, role modeling, and monitoring patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics , depending on the nursing unit assigned. At present, the nursing units include a 28 bed adult psych unit, a 28 bed adult dual diagnosis, a 22 bed child and adolescent unit , a 24 bed detox unit and a 20 bed rehab unit. Other MHA duties include taking vital signs, conducting educational groups and responding to codes.

This is a per diem position that is ineligible for benefits. Opportunities for additional shifts and overtime if interested.

Qualifications

Mental Health Associate (MHA) Job Requirements:

• B.S. in health related field with one year of psychiatric experience, preferably in an inpatient setting; or two years of experience in a psychiatric setting with evidence of participation in continuing education related to mental health preferred.
• Psychiatric inpatient experience for Adults, Adolescents and Dual populations preferred.
• Must maintain CPR and First Aid, Verbal De-escalation and Handle with Care Certifications which will be provided by the Hospital.
