Job summary

Kith Retail LLC in Williamsburg, Brooklyn seeks a Men's Technical Design Assistant to support the Technical Design Department and report to the Head of Men's Technical Design. The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for technical design, along with a strong sense of accountability, reliability, and adaptability.

Responsibilities include creating tech packs, driving samples from design handoff through production, and ensuring fit and construction standards align with brand quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design is required.
• 0–3 years of experience in Technical Design.
• Contemporary / high-end brand experience preferred.
• Menswear experience preferred.
• Proficient in Gerber Accumark and related software.

Responsibilities

• Create / Develop detailed Tech Packs to factories/vendors, ensuring precise communication of design, construction, workmanship, and quality control specifications.
• Execute initial styles from design handoff through production to meet required aesthetic following sketches and/or original samples.
• Measure & examine samples with specifications against requests at all stages to prepare for scheduled fittings.
• Provide technical direction on matters pertaining to specs, pattern, construction methods and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality of the garment within company calendar deadline.
• Ensure grading, fit consistency, and key measurement standard across all styles and product categories.
• Collaborate with designers and merchants to translate fit and aesthetic details.
• Participate in weekly fit sessions.

Position Summary

Kith is looking for a Men's Technical Design Assistant to join the team. This role exists purely to support the Technical Design Department and will report to the Head of Men's Technical Design. The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for technical design, along with a strong sense of accountability, reliability, and adaptability. They should also bring solid organizational and time-management skills to keep pace with the department's needs.

Responsibilities

• Create / Develop detailed Tech Packs to factories/vendors, ensuring precise communication of design, construction, workmanship, and quality control specifications.
• Execute initial styles from design handoff through production to meet required aesthetic following sketches and/or original samples.
• Measure & examine samples with specifications against requests at all stages to prepare for scheduled fittings.
• In effective collaboration with peer teams, supervisor and vendor, provides technical direction on matters pertaining to specs, pattern, construction methods and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality of the garment within company calendar deadline.
• Ensure that all products conform to the company standard and brand values, aiming high-end quality.
• Ensure grading, fit consistency, and key measurement standard across all styles and product categories.
• Participate in weekly fit sessions.
• Collaborate with designers and merchants to translate fit and aesthetic details.
• Anticipate and resolve any problems with the fit process.
• Partner with vendors in the resolution of problems as necessary.
• Work closely with Technical Design leaders to enhance and evolve processes and procedures, as business evolves, while driving to elevate the quality of the product.
• Work with Vendor partners to translate design intent into prototype samples.
• Provide fit comments with pattern corrections, illustration sketches and construction feedback to confirm fit and design intent.
• Conduct the risk assessment process with Production team to mitigate risk in bulk production.
• Execution of approving construction samples, mockups and bulk swatch/production.
• Perform other technical design related duties, as needed.

Requirements

• Experience 0–3 years of experience in Technical Design.
• Bachelor's degree in Technical Design / Fashion Design.
• Contemporary / high-end brand experience is preferred.
• Menswear experience is preferred.
• Skills Extensive patternmaking and draping skills with knowledge of garment construction.
• Proficient in Gerber Accumark.
• Superior organizational skills and excellent time management.
• Excellent communication skills and team-oriented.
• Knowledge of POM (Points of Measure).
• Highly proficient in Google software, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PLM.
