Job summary

Royal Oaks Country Club Houston is seeking a friendly and professional staff member to join our locker room service team. You will take and input orders, serve food and beverages, and assist members with clothing and shoe care in a fast-paced club setting.

Strong knowledge of menus, wine basics, and proper alcohol service is required, along with a clean appearance, reliable scheduling, and the ability to communicate courteously with members and staff. Prior POS experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must know menu thoroughly and provide proper food presentation and service.
  • Must have valid TABC certification to serve alcohol.
  • Must have valid Food Handler’s certification to serve food (per Texas law).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must communicate courteously with members, guests and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Take orders, input orders into the POS, and serve food and beverages.
  • Be knowledgeable about all food and beverage products that are offered and how they are prepared.
  • Comply to all Club food and beverage service standards.
  • Prepares and serves alcoholic beverages and cocktails when required.
  • Take care of members' and guests' clothes, golf shoes, street shoes and other needs in the Locker Room areas.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and professional appearance always in accordance with the established dress codes.
  • Provide equal and immediate attention to all members/guests upon arrival.
  • Verify accuracy of member number and prices before presenting the check.
  • Effectively handle complaints and communicate them to manager or supervisor immediately.
  • Work with a “sense of urgency” on behalf of the membership without disrupting the atmosphere of the locker room.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Proper execution of POS system (Jonas) to ensure accurate communication between kitchen and service staff.
  • Cross trains and work/assists in other areas of the club as needed.

Reports To: Locker Room Manager

Essential Functions:
  • Take orders, sufficiently input orders into the POS, and serve food and beverages.
  • Be knowledgeable about all food and beverage products that are offered and how they are prepared.
  • Comply to all Club food and beverage service standards.
  • Prepares and serves alcoholic beverages and cocktails when required.
  • Take care of members' and guests' clothes, golf shoes, street shoes and other needs in the Locker Room areas. This includes assisting with shoe care and assuring accurate member/guest shoe delivery.
  • Helps with care and maintenance of the Locker Room and Fire Pit to always keep everything in top condition.
  • Keep all areas tidy and neat including Porter and Housekeeping duties as requested.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and professional appearance always in accordance with the established dress codes.
  • Provide equal and immediate attention to all members/guests upon arrival.
  • Verify accuracy of member number and prices before presenting the check for signature.
  • Effectively handle complaints and communicate them to manager or supervisor immediately.
  • Work with a “sense of urgency” on behalf of the membership without disrupting the atmosphere of the locker room.
  • Keep popcorn and snack area stocked, refreshed when needed, and clean.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Proper execution of POS system (Jonas) to ensure accurate communication between kitchen and service staff.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by Supervisor or Manager.
  • Cross trains and work/assists in other areas of the club as needed
  • Will sometimes be required to drive a golf cart on property and in the neighborhood

Other Responsibilities:
  • Submit all cash tips according to the Pooling Tip Policy
  • Always treat all members and guests equally and according to Club standards.
  • Do not serve alcohol to intoxicated members/guests or anyone under the age of 21. Always ask for ID if legal drinking age (21) is a concern. No ID, no alcohol.
  • Report intoxicated members/guests and children asking for alcoholic beverages to supervisor or manager on duty immediately.
  • If a member/guest appears to be impaired and is driving, offer alternate transportation, such as a Taxi or a ride from a friend or relative.
  • Comply with all TABC and Club regulations concerning alcoholic beverage service.
Working Conditions:

The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
