Job summary

Brown University Athletics and Recreation seeks an Assistant Coach for Men’s Basketball to help develop high‑achieving student‑athletes within a competitive Ivy League program. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1–2 years coaching experience required.
  • Alternatively, 5 years of directly related experience accepted.
  • Experience coaching in intercollegiate or competitive environment.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, techniques, and player development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Coach with practice planning and execution, workouts, skill sessions, and game prep.
  • Work with designated players or groups to support individual development and performance.
  • Assist with opponent scouting, film breakdown, and game planning.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student‑athletes following NCAA/Ivy League rules.
  • Provide observations and recommendations on player development, team strategy, and in‑game adjustments.
  • Coordinate program operations, including scheduling, travel, equipment, and logistics.
  • Build positive relationships with student‑athletes and support their academic and athletic development.
  • Support fundraising, alumni engagement, and other department initiatives.
  • Represent Brown University with professionalism and integrity.
