Job summary

Fourth Floor invites a Designer to join its men's activewear team in New York. This role focuses on taking concepts from initial sketches to final products onsite in NYC four days per week.

You will analyze market trends, create seasonal color palettes, and develop tech packs while coordinating with international factories. Strong Illustrator/Photoshop skills and CAD capability are essential for production-ready development.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years experience of activewear design
• Strong understanding of apparel construction, garment fit, materials, trims, and print development
• Experience working with factories and international vendors
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel
• Strong CAD skills and ability to execute detailed drawings and create development packages
• Strong organizational skills
• Can create and change colorways, technical sketches, print layouts, and pattern artwork for development and production
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Manage the design through development process, leading products from initial concepts through final product
• Analyze market trends and competitive brands to identify new seasonal opportunities
• Use brand strategy to create seasonal inspiration, color palettes, and concept presentations
• Create apparel sketches and CAD drawings in Adobe Illustrator
• Develop new fabrics when needed as well as choose fabrics, trims, and components
• Create tech packs including sketches, measurements, construction details, colorways, materials, artwork, and labeling
• Coordinate product development with international factories and manage factory questions
• Assess samples by evaluating fit, construction, materials, and color compared to approved standards
• Collaborate with Technical Team during fittings to provide feedback for Production Team and factories
• Partner with Design Assistant to review and approve production submissions such as lab dips, bulk fabric, trims, artwork, labeling, and hangtags
