Job summary

Monarch Communities in Mahwah, NJ is seeking a Full Time Memory Care Activity Coordinator to develop and oversee a resident engagement program within the Memory Care Neighborhood. You will design activities to meet the needs and interests of residents, document histories with family input, and coordinate social programs with staff.

The role requires strong communication, time management, and the ability to work weekends; experience with dementia preferred.

Qualifications

• One to three years related experience leading activities for the elderly
• Experience with dementia and Alzheimer's preferred
• High school diploma or higher education preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
• Flexible schedule with at least one weekend day
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) and ability to learn new apps

Responsibilities

• Design and develop recreation and activity programs to meet residents' needs and interests in Memory Care.
• Create resident histories and profiles with family involvement and share summaries with staff.
• Coordinate and schedule social programs for Memory Care, including events and activities.
• Create monthly social program calendars and distribute them to staff and residents.
• Coordinate programs with other departments and staff across the community.
• Pursue partnerships with local organizations for programming opportunities.
• Assist in training and orientation for volunteers.
• Drive the community vehicle for resident outings.
• Attend in-service training and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
