Job summary

Atria Senior Living in Waterford, CT is looking for an enthusiastic Life Guidance activities coordinator to lead our Life Guidance programs and develop engaging service plans for residents.

You will plan and supervise diversified activities, involve staff in daily programs, and ensure activities meet residents’ needs, including those with Alzheimer’s/Dementia; you’ll also assist with volunteers and event planning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of recreational therapy methods for Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
• State certifications required by current regulations.
• Ability to work various schedules and shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Leads assigned Life Guidance programs and develops service plans.
• Offers adequate and diversified recreational activities with supervision.
• Involves Life Guidance staff in planning daily program and all activities of daily living.
• Plans individual birthday celebrations for residents.
• Develops programs for residents including those confined to rooms.
• Engages residents to encourage participation in programs.
• Greets new residents and integrates them into activities with similar interests.
• Assists in planning parties and decorating the community by season/holiday; organizes monthly birthday parties.
• Supports census-building initiatives and maintains activity records as required by state law.
• Assists Life Guidance Director in enlisting volunteers for the activities program.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
