Job summary

LCS (Life Care Services) is seeking an Activities Assistant to support a Memory Care unit by planning and implementing a varied activity program addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of residents in a part-time role.

The role includes coordinating activities, creating calendars, training volunteers, and maintaining attendance records, with a focus on enriching residents' daily lives. Requires high school diploma and preferred experience in related programs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• One year experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting preferred.
• Background in music, art, drama, and dance therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and coordinating activities including reality orientation, current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outside trips, special events, and one-to-one visits.
• Assist with preparing and distributing the monthly calendar and newsletter.
• Assist with purchasing supplies for activities.
• Distribute mail daily to residents.
• Perform and direct the movement of residents to and from recreational areas.
• Announce scheduled activities over the intercom at least fifteen minutes prior to the activity.
• Direct volunteers; enlist support and coordinate their efforts; provide training and supervision.
• Maintain accurate documentation of resident’s activity attendance.
• Plan and coordinate activities in the absence of the Activity Coordinator.
