Job summary

Aster Place Assisted Living in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Memory Care Activity Assistant for the part-time day shift. The role focuses on enriching residents' lives with engaging, age-appropriate activities, delivering warmth and compassionate care.

You’ll collaborate with the care team to support residents with memory-related needs, create meaningful daily routines, and foster a welcoming, respectful environment in our American Senior Communities setting.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED or 1–3 months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Successful completion of a State approved Nursing Assistant training and competency evaluation program or CNA program approved by the State.

Responsibilities

  • Engage residents with memory care activities, delivering warmth and compassionate care.
  • Collaborate with the care team to support residents’ cognitive and physical well-being.
  • Balance daily schedules, activity prep, and resident engagement to create meaningful routines.

Part-Time Day Shift

The Memory Care Activity Assistant plays a vital and heartfelt role in enriching the lives of residents. With warmth, patience, and genuine care, they help create a joyful and engaging environment where seniors feel seen, heard, and valued.

Skills Needed

  • Supportive Presence: Being able to truly connect with residents, understanding their emotional and social needs.
  • Passion: A desire to work with those experiencing Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related dementia assuring that each person lives every day to their maximum cognitive and physicalability.
  • Teamwork: The ability to work towards a common goal of excellent care for our residents. Cooperating closely with the care team to support residents holistically.
  • Time Management: Balancing daily schedules, multiple residents, and activity prep.
  • Creativity: Create engaging, age-appropriate activities that suit different physical and cognitive abilities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates C.A.R.E. values to our residents, family members, customers and staff. Compassion, Accountability, RelationshipsandExcellence
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of a State approved Nursing Assistant training and competency evaluation program or a CNA competency evaluation program approved by the State. This training can also be provided by the community.
