Job summary

The Commons on Meridian Assisted Living in Indianapolis is seeking a Memory Care Activity Assistant to enrich residents’ lives with engaging, age-appropriate activities. The role requires warmth, patience, and a heart for seniors living with memory challenges on weekends.

You will collaborate with the care team to support residents holistically, manage activity prep, and deliver compassionate interactions that respect each person’s dignity and individuality.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates C.A.R.E. values to residents, family members, customers and staff.
• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Successful completion of a State approved Nursing Assistant training and competency evaluation program or a CNA competency evaluation program approved by the State.

Responsibilities

• Engage residents with memory care activities to enrich daily life.
• Collaborate with the care team to support residents holistically.
• Balance daily schedules and activity prep with patience and care.

Saturday and Sunday

The Memory Care Activity Assistant plays a vital and heartfelt role in enriching the lives of residents. With warmth, patience, and genuine care, they help create a joyful and engaging environment where seniors feel seen, heard, and valued.

Skills Needed

• Supportive Presence: Being able to truly connect with residents, understanding their emotional and social needs.
• Passion: A desire to work with those experiencing Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related dementia assuring that each person lives every day to their maximum cognitive and physicalability.
• Teamwork: The ability to work towards a common goal of excellent care for our residents. Cooperating closely with the care team to support residents holistically.
• Time Management: Balancing daily schedules, multiple residents, and activity prep.
• Creativity: Create engaging, age-appropriate activities that suit different physical and cognitive abilities.

Requirements

• Demonstrates C.A.R.E. values to our residents, family members, customers and staff. Compassion, Accountability, RelationshipsandExcellence
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Successful completion of a State approved Nursing Assistant training and competency evaluation program or a CNA competency evaluation program approved by the State. This training can also be provided by the community.
