Job summary

Western Midstream in Billerica, MA seeks a process engineer specializing in membrane-based water and wastewater treatment. You will lead field pilots, design and optimize membrane systems, and support project development.

Travel up to 25% and collaboration with sales and operations are key. A bachelor in engineering is required; Master’s preferred. On-site Monday–Friday with growth opportunities within the organization.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of membrane system design, operations, and piloting.
• Hands-on experience with pilot operation and/or system startups.
• Strong knowledge of membrane processes and water chemistry.
• Ability to design, size, and optimize membrane system processes.
• Analytical skills to understand technical requirements and develop solutions.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent organization and written/verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; HMI/PLC familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute field pilots at customer sites to demonstrate membrane solutions.
• Conduct in-house validation trials for new products or applications.
• Analyze pilot data and prepare client reports.
• Develop cost-effective membrane system designs to meet customer needs.
• Size equipment, pumps, piping, and valves for water and wastewater systems.
• Develop process documentation including P&IDs and mass balances.
