First Church in Boston seeks a friendly Membership Coordinator to welcome visitors, answer questions, and invite people into the life of the church on Sundays. Located in Back Bay, we welcome people from across the city with intercultural hospitality reflecting Unitarian Universalist values.

This part-time role is 10 hours per week, mostly onsite Sundays 10am–1pm, with some remote follow-ups. Starting late August 2026, the position includes outreach planning and engagement opportunities and

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• Knowledge of Unitarian Universalism or willingness to learn.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
• Willingness and comfort learning Realm membership database software.
• Must be able to move freely through the building and lift 20 pounds.
• Discretion is required; CORI check will be performed.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome visitors on Sundays; assist with Coffee Hour.
• Develop and support a team of volunteer greeters.
• Track visitors and contacts in Realm; follow-up with each visitor.
• Prepare information packets or a welcome table for visitors.
• Develop and lead occasional opportunities to grow in welcoming newcomers.
• Interact with congregants to match opportunities with interests and abilities; foster connections.
