Job summary

Members Heritage Credit Union is seeking a friendly teller who communicates with members to provide account and service information and to process cash and checks accurately. You will maintain a cash drawer, handle deposits, loan payments, and daily mail in a timely, professional manner.

  • Requires general education, or equivalent experience, to understand and follow standard practices, carry out simple written and oral instructions, and to apply basic work routines.
  • One (1) year prior on the job cash handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cash drawer, receive/disburse cash and process checks following policies and procedures, paying close attention to cash counts and check endorsements.
  • Post loan payments and daily mail; assist in night deposits and cash vault activities.
  • Balance cash recyclers and assist as second person for daily ATM balancing; may open the vault as needed.
  • Assist with filling cash orders, verify cash and coin shipments, and maintain accurate transaction records and end-of-day balances.
  • Utilize product and service knowledge to assist members with safe deposit boxes, check orders, direct deposit forms, and basic eservice knowledge.
  • Provide account and service information to members following policies; print counter checks and statements as needed; seek supervisor assistance for unusual situations.
  • Actively ensure compliance with OFAC, BSA/AML, and Patriot Act through Training.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

SUMMARY FUNCTION:

Communicates to members personally to provide necessary account and service information. Performs teller functions in a timely, accurate, and professional manner to meet credit union and member needs. Must have a basic understanding of credit union products and services. Must be able to stay focused with a high level of concentration skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE

Requires general education, or equivalent experience, necessary to understand and follow standard practices, carry out simple written and oral instructions, and to apply basic work routines. One (1) year prior on the job cash handling experience preferred.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain cash drawer. Receive/disburse cash and processes checks in accordance with policies and procedures, paying close attention to cash counts as well as check endorsements, negotiability requirements and check hold procedures. Post loan payments, loan advances, and daily mail where applicable. Assist in retrieving/processing night deposits. Order/sell money to/from cash vault. Sells postage stamps and money orders. Process/post cash advances for Visa. Assist in balancing the cash recyclers. Assist as the second person for daily ATM balancing as assigned. Can be responsible for dual control of opening the vault. Assist with filling cash orders, verifying cash and coin shipment, and good counts. Maintain accurate records of each transaction posted and assure that daily work is in balance. Balance all end of day branch items.

Utilize product and service knowledge in order to assist members. This includes access to safe deposit boxes, check orders, direct deposit forms, change of member personal information forms, basic eservice knowledge, basic IRA contributions, and CRM notes.

Provide account and service information to members following established policies and procedures. May print counter checks and statements for members. Seeks assistance from Team Leader/ Manager for unusual and complex situations.

Actively work to ensure Credit Union compliance with OFAC, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering and U.S.A. Patriot Act by following all Credit Union policies and procedures and attending regular training as required.

May perform other related duties as assigned.

May lift daily work boxes and coin bags up to approximately 50lbs, when necessary. When lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
