Job summary

GreenState Credit Union in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Member Service Associate to deliver exceptional service and cultivate member relationships. You will balance cash, greet members, and identify opportunities to offer our products and services.

The role emphasizes teamwork, confidentiality, and adherence to credit union policies. You will engage with members, conduct outbound calls, and coordinate with specialists in Wealth Management, Mortgage, and Insurance to meet member needs.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of similar MSR experience or related credit union product knowledge.
• Strong sales ability and interpersonal skills to represent the credit union professionally.
• Ability to manage time and prioritize in a fast-paced branch environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling member accounts.
• Compliance with regulations and ability to balance cash responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to service standards and greet members with a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Balance cash drawer daily and follow cash handling policies.

Hours:

Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:15pm
Saturday 8:45am-12:15pm

Pay range for this hourly position is $21.46 - $25.08/hr with a monthly incentive opportunity and a progressive benefits package.

Responsibilities

1. Adheres to the Credit Union Service Standards in carrying out GreenState's mission and vision.
2. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times, greeting members and guests with a smile and eye contact immediately upon their arrival, using their name or acknowledging them, and thanking them for their business.
3. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
4. Ensures confidentiality of member information.
5. Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.
6. Sales – Ask questions, listen to your members’ needs and offer solutions that best fits the needs of your member.
7. Acts as part of a cohesive team, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with other employees.
8. Ensures confidentiality of member account records and account information. Request identification whenever necessary and provide account information to only those members listed as primary or joint owners.
9. Profile each member to uncover opportunities for additional business.
10. Responsible for structuring loan applications, working with underwriters and adhering to all lending policies and regulations.
11. Makes weekly outbound sales calls to members.
12. Performs all aspects of MSR position. This includes the ability to accurately balance a cash drawer daily and a firm understanding of all credit union policies and procedures for cash handling, check handling, and identification.
13. Builds member relationships by recognizing their financial needs and meeting those needs with the appropriate GreenState product and service or referring them to the specialized department (Wealth Management, Commercial, Mortgage, GreenState Insurance etc.) to be served.
14. Participates in promotions, contests, and other departmental activities which support team goals.
15. Responsible for sales of loan protection products.
16. Possesses a thorough knowledge of all federal regulations and procedures concerning deposits.
17. Performs vault duties including cash ordering, balancing, drawer audits, scheduling, and other duties as assigned.
18. Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or Credit Union sponsored events.

Qualifications

1. Must have at least one year of similar or related experience or 12 months in an MSR role with knowledge of all credit union accounts and products with proven ability to handle a wide variety of functions quickly and accurately.
2. High energy and sales ability and interpersonal skills to represent the credit union in a positive and professional manner.
3. Ability to coordinate and prioritize work assignments and organize work efficiently. Must demonstrate good time management skills to meet established deadlines.
4. Accuracy and attention to detail.
5. Proficiency with related computer applications, spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications.
6. Proven relationship building skills and techniques.
7. Must be self-motivated, exercise sound judgment, and be able to work independently
8. Ability to maintain composure, and problem solve as they arise.
9. Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationship.
10. Ability to work with minimal direction and exercise sound judgment.
11. Reports to work punctually, works all scheduled hours, and works overtime as necessitated by business demand
12. High school diploma or the equivalent (i.e. GED).
13. Must be bondable.
14. Must be registered pursuant to requirements of the S.A.F.E Act.
15. Adheres to all state, federal and credit union regulations, policies, and guidelines.

Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Manager Retail Branch as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
