Collins Community Credit Union, a growing organization is currently hiring a Member Relationship Specialist (MRS) III. The Member Relationship Specialist (MRS) III - Consumer Loan Officer is a member-focused, growth-driven role responsible for originating and closing consumer loans while actively seeking to grow membership and deposit relationships.
Applicants must have valid work authorization for permanent employment in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values, and long-term objectives. Performs duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards, and our work procedures.
Deposit Account Generation & Cross-Selling
- Actively recommend and open new deposit accounts (checking, savings, certificates, specialty accounts).
- Conduct comprehensive financial needs assessments to identify opportunities.
- Cross-sell appropriate products and services (loans, credit cards, digital banking, and ancillary products).
- Ensure every member interaction includes a review of relationship-expansion opportunities.
- Represent the credit union in the community and strengthen visibility and membership growth.
- Conduct consultative interviews with applicants, collect documentation, and look for additional lending opportunities.
- Structure, recommend, and close consumer loans in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
- Guide members through loan options, clearly explaining terms, rates, and repayment structures.
- Maintain a pipeline of active loans and ensure timely, accurate processing and closing.
- Collaborate with underwriting to deliver efficient and compliant loan decisions.
- Meet or exceed monthly goals for:
- Loan production
- New Member / New deposit account growth
- Cross-sell ratios
- Referrals to business partners
- Take an “All In” approach to achieving results by proactively managing leads and opportunities.
- Use a consultative, member-first sales style focused on solving financial needs, not just selling products.
- Track performance metrics and continuously look for ways to improve results.
- Have a detailed knowledge of all loan and deposit products and partner offerings.
- Deliver exceptional member experiences across all channels (in-person, phone, digital).
- Provide financial education and guidance to help members make confident, informed decisions.
- Resolve member concerns with transparency, empathy, and professionalism.
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency in all transactions while maintaining a positive member experience.
- Maintain adherence to all federal and state regulations, including SAFE Act and NMLS requirements.
- Protect member confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the highest level of integrity.
- Follow internal policies and procedures to minimize risk and ensure sound lending practices.
- Demonstrate ethical decision‑making in all aspects of lending and account opening.
- Work closely with branch teammates, underwriting, support departments, and business partners to ensure a unified member experience.
- Share knowledge, support peers, and contribute to a culture of teamwork and shared success.
- Participate in training, process improvement, and organizational initiatives.
- Embrace a nimble mindset adapt quickly to changing needs and priorities.
Working Conditions:
- Requires frequent walking, sitting, and standing for long periods of time
- Regularly uses computer and standard office equipment (copier, printer, calculator, and other office technology) to perform daily job duties.
- Requires the ability to clearly exchange accurate, concise, and timely information in person, by phone, and through electronic communications.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs.
Job Qualifications:
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in consumer lending, retail banking, or a sales-focused environment.
- Experience with loan origination, deposit account opening, or membership development strongly preferred.
- Must be able obtain and maintain active NMLS registration.
Licenses & Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain:
- NMLS (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System) registration when necessary
- Notary Public designation
- Must be bondable in accordance with the State of Iowa and Collins Community Credit Union guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport quickly.
- Proven ability to drive sales and meet production goals.
- Excellent communication skills with a transparent, member-first approach.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
