Job summary

Great Lakes Credit Union in Illinois is hiring a Personal Banker to deliver exceptional service, assess members' financial needs, and cross-sell loans and ancillary products within regulatory guidelines. You will build lasting relationships and act as a trusted financial partner for consumers and small businesses.

The role requires at least 1 year of related experience, completion of Retail Advanced lending training, and an active NMLS license or ability to obtain one within six months.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year as a Sr. Member Specialist or industry equivalent (Personal Banker).
• Successful completion of Retail Advanced (Lending) training program.
• Must have active NMLS license, ability to renew expired license, or acquire new license within 6 months.
• Ability to complete FiCep training within a pre-determined time frame.

Responsibilities

• Assess each member’s financial situation and determine best products to improve financial wellness.
• Consistently attain and exceed sales goals while contributing to department success.
• Provide guidance on membership, deposits, loans; inform on lending criteria and denial reasons.
• Open and maintain membership accounts following policies and procedures.
• Process loan applications including credit cards, home equity and consumer loans.
• Review applications and credit reports for cross-sell opportunities.
• Engage with local small businesses to discuss GLCU supports.
• Answer member questions regarding lending products and services.
• Investigate and resolve member issues and complaints timely.
• Build relationships with members via outbound calls, onboarding, and follow-up.
