Job summary

YMCA of Greater Birmingham in Trussville, AL is seeking an experienced Leader for Member Engagement & Wellness to guide a team, shape programs, and manage budgets to foster belonging and healthy living. You will create and grow programs supporting families, seniors, and adults while ensuring a welcoming, safe member experience.

You will lead the Wellness Coordinator, drive customer service excellence, connect with donors and community partners, and use data to guide decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred
• Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all segments of the community
• Demonstrated customer service orientation and the ability to build effective relationships with departments, donors, and volunteers
• Flexibility to support time-sensitive program and service activities, such as special events
• Successful completion of background and Child Abuse and Neglect screening
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of start date (via YMCA, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or ASHI; valid 2 years unless otherwise noted)
• Required online training modules completed before start date and repeated annually

Responsibilities

• Build a welcoming, safe, member-focused culture that drives recruitment and retention
• Recruit, train, schedule, and develop staff and volunteers, including supervising the Wellness Coordinator
• Create and grow programs for families, seniors, and adults, and coordinate registration
• Partner with the Youth and Aquatics Program Director on Summer Day Camp, the 7th-grade membership initiative, and enrichment programs
• Lead wellness programs, including health coaching, personal training, chronic disease initiatives, and new member onboarding
• Support marketing and represent the Y at community events and partnerships
• Oversee Child Watch, Kids Night Out, front desk operations, and facility presentation
• Plan and manage the membership, wellness, and family programming budget, including fee collection
