Job summary

The Trustees of Reservations in Massachusetts seeks a full-time Membership Sales & Visitor Engagement professional to welcome visitors, enroll new members, and represent the organization at properties, events, and community programs.

You will travel across Massachusetts, engage diverse audiences, process memberships, and collaborate with property teams to meet growth goals, with a hybrid work schedule and 40-hour weeks.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in sales, customer service, visitor engagement, membership programs, fundraising, hospitality, or a related customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Represent The Trustees' membership program at properties, events, and community opportunities across Massachusetts.
  • Engage visitors in meaningful conversations about membership, tailoring messaging to individual interests and experiences.
  • Assist on-site membership enrollment and answer related questions.
  • Accurately process memberships and record data.
  • Serve as a welcoming ambassador delivering great visitor experiences.
  • Participate in membership-focused events and outreach across MA.
  • Maintain sales materials, signage, and promotional resources.
  • Support engagement initiatives with property teams and staff.
  • Represent The Trustees at community events and partner programs.
  • Assist with membership training and visitor support resources.
  • Share feedback and trends to improve engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with teams to reach membership goals.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

What You’ll Do

You will be the front line for The Trustees’ membership program, engaging visitors at properties, events, and community gatherings.

Responsibilities

Membership Sales & Visitor Engagement

  • Represent The Trustees membership program at properties, events, and community engagement opportunities across Massachusetts.
  • Engage visitors in meaningful conversations about membership, tailoring messaging to individual interests and experiences.
  • Support on‑site membership acquisition efforts and assist visitors with enrollment and related questions.
  • Accurately process memberships and ensure data is collected and recorded appropriately.
  • Serve as a welcoming and knowledgeable ambassador, delivering exceptional visitor experiences.

Property & Event Support

  • Participate in membership‑focused events and outreach activities throughout the year, with increased field presence during peak visitation seasons.
  • Assist with maintaining membership sales materials, signage, and promotional resources at assigned properties.
  • Support the delivery of membership engagement initiatives in partnership with property teams and membership staff.
  • Represent The Trustees at community events, partner programs, and other public‑facing opportunities.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist with the delivery of membership training and support resources for property‑facing staff.
  • Share visitor feedback, membership trends, and observations from the field to help improve engagement strategies and visitor experiences.
  • Collaborate with membership and property teams to support membership acquisition goals and organizational priorities.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in sales, customer service, visitor engagement, membership programs, fundraising, hospitality, or a related customer‑facing role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adept at engaging diverse audiences.
  • Confidence and enthusiasm for initiating conversations and promoting membership through in‑person interactions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing needs and environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems preferred; ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with ability to travel regularly across Massachusetts.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support events and visitor engagement activities.
  • Ability to work outdoors and remain active for extended periods during events and property visits.
  • Enthusiasm for The Trustees’ mission and a genuine interest in conservation, outdoor recreation, and connecting people to special places.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Clean criminal background check.
