Fort Wayne Metals Research Products Corp is hiring a Manufacturing Technician for the Melt Shop in Columbia City, IN. The role runs on a Monday–Friday second shift (3:10pm–11:10pm) with a starting wage of $22.79/hr and a shift premium of $1.50, paid weekly.

Start at $22.79/hr to $26.81/hr within ~6 months; overtime is voluntary and not required. The position emphasizes safety, a hands-on team, and opportunities to gain highly specialized melt shop skills on a fast-paced production line.

Qualifications

• 2 years of manufacturing experience required.
• Hands-on technical experience may be considered in lieu of manufacturing.
• Knowledge of weight conversions and measuring tools.
• Basic understanding of computer operation; ability to use Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support Melt Shop manufacturing operations from raw material preparation through ingot production and movement of materials.
• Issue raw materials to production jobs using the ERP system.
• Weigh, record, mix, and compact raw materials with high accuracy.
• Operate compacting press and prepare compacts for melting.
• Weld compacts into electrodes and prepare them for the melt process.
• Operate band saws and milling equipment to prepare ingots and materials.
• Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment up to 4,000 lbs.
• Prepare and package materials for shipment and external processing; assist with crucible cleaning and maintenance.
• Follow safety procedures and equipment operating requirements.
• Support general Melt Shop operations and perform additional duties as assigned by management.
