Job description

Job Overview

This role provides leadership guidance in establishing a productive, high‑performing, and safety‑conscious working environment in the Melt Shop, focusing on safety, environmental, production, cost, quality, and people management through GBS principles.

Responsibilities

• Ensure routine management efforts are followed and identify opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production.
• Standardize processes within the area of responsibility, including needs assessments, auditing, and coaching of production/quality improvement programs.
• Provide ITS training, lead 5S improvements, and develop/implement cost and environmental control goals.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures.
• Report any situations that may impact human health or the environment to the immediate supervisor, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• Two‑year college degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Material Science, or equivalent experience in manufacturing.
• 4 to 6 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to standardization and production quality methods.
• Working knowledge of steel manufacturing methods, heavy mill machinery, and related equipment.
• Prior experience in Melt Shop operations.
• Basic knowledge of business systems and complex technical/engineering processes.
• Ability to train, guide, and lead people; solid presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• People‑management skills.

Reports directly to the Melt Shop Superintendent and must perform all duties in accordance with applicable regulations.
