Job description

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing leadership guidance on establishing a productive, high‑performing, and safety‑conscious working environment in the Melt Shop Department. The role focuses on safety, environmental, production, cost, quality, and people management through continuous application of GBS principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure routine management efforts are followed and identify opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production.
• Standardize processes within the area of responsibility, including needs assessments, auditing, and coaching of production/quality improvement programs.
• Provide training on ITS and 5S, and develop and implement cost and environmental control goals.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures.
• Report any situations that may impact human health or the environment to the immediate supervisor.
• Collaborate with the Melt Shop Superintendent and report directly to them.

Qualifications

• Two‑year college degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Material Science.
• 4 to 6 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to standardization and production quality methods; or sufficient experience in lieu of a degree.
• Working knowledge of steel manufacturing methods and heavy mill machinery.
• Previous qualifying experience in Melt Shop operations is a must.
• Basic knowledge of the business system and complex technical and engineering processes.
• Ability to train and guide people; solid presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• People management skills are a must.
