Job summary

Neenah Foundry Company is hiring for an entry-level Melt role. This position requires no prior experience and offers cross-training across production tasks. You will tolerate a loud, warm environment, work in confined spaces, stand for long periods, and handle molten metal safely.

Shifts include mornings, afternoons, and nights with overtime as needed. Base pay starts at $27.51/hour plus shift premiums. Probation increases may apply after 60 working days, with potential for advancement through

Responsibilities

• Monitor furnace conditions and take readings.
• Perform basic math and use calculator/computer skills as needed.
• Haul iron and manage slag from molten metal.
• Operate yard crane and weigh charge metals into hopper.
• Load/unload rail cars and maintain clean production area.
• Assist with refractory repairs on cupola, ladles, and furnaces.

Job description

The Melt role is a team-based position and plays a crucial role in the success of each molding line. This role is an entry-level opportunity and does not require any previous experience. However, you must be able to tolerate a loud, warm, and physically challenging work environment. The successful applicant must be able to work in confined spaces, stand for extended periods of time, as well as handle molten metal in a safe and confident manner. The position does offer the opportunity for cross training and experience in a variety of tasks related to production.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Basic math, calculator, and computer skills are highly desirable
• Demonstrate ability to monitor furnace conditions
• Accurately take readings
• Make refractory repairs to cupola, ladles and furnaces.
• Haul iron
• Slag off molten iron
• Rod and dump the furnace
• Maintain cleanliness of production area
• Operate yard crane to accurately weigh charge metals into the weigh hopper
• Load and unload rail cars
• Break up returns

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old to apply
• No educational requirements
• Must be able to read and follow work instructions
• Cannot be afraid of heights

Shifts:

Must be available to work 8-12 hour shifts

Must be available for overtime as production needs require

Shifts vary according to Plant assignment

Monday – Friday, some Saturdays and Sundays required.

Typical shift hours:

1 shift: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm

2 shift: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm

3 shift: 10:00 pm - 6:00 am Sunday - Thursday

Pay rate:

Base pay rate of $27.51, 2nd shift premium: $1.50, 3rd shift premium: $1.00

Base rates increase $1/hour upon successful completion of probation (60 working days)
