Job summary

Western States Lodging and Management is seeking a compassionate Medication Technician/QMAP to support Senior Living residents with medication administration, personal care, and daily wellness needs. Work alongside a supportive nursing team in a resident-centered environment.

Responsibilities include administering medications, daily care tasks, and documenting responses. Requires CNA or Caregiver certification and QMAP or MT program completion; 0–1 year experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current CNA or Caregiver certification in the applying state.
• Completion of Certified Medication Technician program or QMAP.
• 0–1 year caregiving or medication administration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications as ordered by physicians under the direction of a Licensed Nurse, including oral, inhaled, topical, and other forms.
• Complete treatments and care tasks within your scope of training and authorization.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, promoting independence and dignity.
• Monitor residents and report significant changes to nursing staff.
• Document medication administration and resident responses accurately.
• Provide skin care and change dressings for non-infected conditions.
• Assist with transfers and physical care needs as appropriate.
• Provide companionship, emotional support, and compassionate care to residents.
• Maintain resident privacy, confidentiality, and rights at all times.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and health standards and work with the team to ensure quality care.
• Perform other duties delegated by a Licensed Nurse.

What You’ll Do

• Administer medications as ordered by physicians and under the direction of a Licensed Nurse, including oral medications, inhalers, eye and ear drops, topical medications, and liquid or solid medications.
• Complete treatments and care tasks within the scope of your training and authorization.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal care, bathing, grooming, and other needs while promoting independence and dignity.
• Monitor residents and promptly report significant changes in condition or concerns to nursing staff.
• Accurately document medication administration, services provided, and resident responses.
• Provide skin care and change simple dressings for non-infected chronic or postoperative conditions.
• Assist with transfers and other physical care needs as appropriate.
• Provide companionship, emotional support, and compassionate care to residents.
• Maintain resident privacy, confidentiality, and rights at all times.
• Follow all community standards for safety, sanitation, hygiene, appearance, and health.
• Work closely with residents, families, visitors, nurses, and other associates to provide consistent, high-quality care.
• Perform other reasonable duties delegated by a Licensed Nurse.

What Makes you Successful

• Current CNA or Caregiver Certification in the state you are applying in (if applicable)
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a Certified Medication Technician program, QMAP or equivalent medication training according to regulations in the state you are applying in.
• 0–1 year of caregiving, medication administration, senior living, or related experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and care procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow medication and care instructions.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to working with seniors.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, supervisors, nurses, and coworkers.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to work with elderly residents and support their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, lifting, and assisting with resident transfers.
