The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering, and administering medicines to residents as prescribed by physicians, with superior customer service, and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulations, and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments, and care as assigned and within scope of practice, policy, procedures, and regulations.
• Observe, verify, and document medication ingestion or application as directed.
• Notify supervisor if medication is not administered correctly and document reasons.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records on resident medication and care.
• Coordinate medication services with residents, pharmacies, and physicians, verifying dosages prior to dispensing.
• Track medication orders and prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance.
• Participate in narcotic counts and report discrepancies.
• Assist caregivers and assume their responsibilities when needed.
• Respond promptly and kindly to resident needs, maintaining dignity and confidentiality.
• Follow care plans to ensure proper care.
• Assist residents with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, hygiene, meals, and mobility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required.
• Background checks as required by law.
• Must meet health requirements, including TB testing.
