Job summary

Clearwater Newport Beach is seeking a part-time Medication Technician to join our premier luxury senior living community in Newport Beach. The role involves documenting, delivering and administering medications with superior service in line with policies, procedures, and regulations. Pay range is $21.00 - $22.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of work experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician.
• CNA certification preferred.
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required.
• Background clearances as required by government regulations.
• TB health clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily medications, treatments and care as assigned and per policy.
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed.
• Notify supervisor if medications are not administered correctly and document reasons.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records on resident medication and care.
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician, and verify dosages with physician prior to dispensing.
• Participate in narcotic counts at the start and end of shift and report discrepancies.

Education

The Medication Technician is responsible for documenting, delivering and administering medicines to residents as prescribed by physician(s) with superior customer service and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulators and guidelines.

Pay Range: $21.00 - $22.00

Schedule: Friday & Saturday 2:00pm-10:30pm

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned and
• with the scope of practice, policy and procedures, and government regulations
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and
• documenting the reason(s) why
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care
• in accordance with established procedures and governing requirements
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verifying
• dosages with physician prior to dispensing
• Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills – prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance
• Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any and all discrepancies to supervisor(s) immediately
• Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities and responsibilities when needed.
• Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident’s self-respect, personal dignity, personal safety and confidentiality
• Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is being given to their residents
• Assist residents in their daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene (including shaving, hair care, etc.), meals, activities, bowel and bladder functions (including taking to bathrooms, portable commodes, changing incontinence products, etc.)
• Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, eating, and clearing trays
• Transport residents as necessary assisting them into and out of bed, wheelchairs, etc. following all safety/lifting and transferring techniques – escorting them to/from meals, activities, or other transportation needs as requested or assigned

Qualifications
