Job summary

Avamere at Las Vegas seeks a dedicated Medication Tech to administer medications and provide direct care to residents in Memory Care/Assisted Living.

Shifts include Day (6AM-2PM), Evening (2PM-10PM) and Night (10PM-6AM) with weekend availability. Wage $15-$17/hr DOE. Location: 6031 West Cheyenne Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89108. Duties include medication administration, EMR documentation, and resident advocacy.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in memory care or assisted living.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
• Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Card.
• Experience with electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Pass medications as ordered under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Administer accurately and timely.
• Record medications in the resident's EMR.
• Notify pharmacy when refills are needed.
• Maintain clean, organized medication cart/room.
• Monitor and report medication side effects.
• Record shift reports with changes to orders.
• Follow care plans for each resident.
• Assist with medical appointments and advocate for residents.
• Observe health changes and monitor vital signs.
• Document status changes in EMR.
• Complete incident reports as required.
• Perform delegated nursing tasks per RN.
• Participate in in-service education.
• Report changes to Director of Health Services.
• Follow directions and perform duties professionally.
• Ensure resident safety.
• Work with residents, staff, families, and providers.
• Help new employees follow policies.

Type: Full Available

Wage: $15-$17/hr DOE

Location: Avamere at Las Vegas- 6031 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89108

The primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents.

• Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy.
• Administer accurately and timely.
• Record medications administered in the resident’s record.
• Notify the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled.
• Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
• Monitor and report any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services.
• Obtain/provide shift report. Record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.
• Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident’s needs and their comprehensive assessment as assigned.
• Assisting with medical appointments, communicating with healthcare providers, and advocating for the residents’ needs
• Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.
• Document information pertaining to changes in residents’ status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record.
• Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy
• Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN.
• Participate in in-service education programs as assigned.
• Promptly report changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services.
• Follow written and oral directions.
• Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner.
• Be responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision.
• Work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers.
• Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

Requirements

• Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Card.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
