Avamere at Rio Rancho is hiring a Medication Tech to administer medications and provide direct care to residents in a memory care/assisted living setting. You will work under supervision of a licensed nurse, passing meds, recording administration, and ensuring accurate, timely service.

Candidates should have memory care or assisted living experience, CPR/First Aid, and EMR documentation skills, with a strong, compassionate approach to residents and families.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit or Assisted Living.
• Must have CPR/First Aid certification.
• Must have Food Handler’s Card.
• Experience documenting in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Friendly, attentive and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
• Genuine desire to improve seniors’ quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Pass medications according to physician orders under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Administer medications accurately and timely.
• Record medications in resident records.
• Notify pharmacy or family when refills are needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized medication cart/room.
• Monitor and report side effects to the Director of Health Services.
• Follow care plans for medication administration.
• Assist with medical appointments and communicate with healthcare providers.
• Observe residents for changes and monitor vital signs.
• Document changes in EMR and status in a timely manner.
• Perform delegated nursing tasks as assigned by the RN.
• Participate in in-service education programs.

Type: Full time - All Shifts (Mostly Day and Eve)

Schedule: Various schedules to include weekends. Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs as well as other options

Pay Range: $16 - $19 / hour

Location: Avamere at Rio Rancho - 1000 Riverview Drive SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124

The primary role of the Medication Tech is to administer medications and provide direct care to residents.

• Pass medications according to physician orders, delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with facility policy.
• Administer accurately and timely.
• Record medications administered in the resident’s record.
• Notify the pharmacy (or family when applicable) when medications need to be refilled.
• Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
• Monitor and report any/all side effects of medications to the Director of Health Services.
• Obtain/provide shift report. Record sufficient information related to medication administration to implement accurate changes to medication orders.
• Follow comprehensive care plans related to medication administration based on each resident’s needs and their comprehensive assessment as assigned.
• Assisting with medical appointments, communicating with healthcare providers, and advocating for the residents’ needs
• Observing residents for changes in health, reporting concerns to medical professionals, and monitoring vital signs.
• Document information pertaining to changes in residents’ status, personal needs, and communications with outside providers in the electronic medical record.
• Complete accident and incident reports in a timely manner and according to facility policy
• Perform delegated nursing services as assigned by the RN.
• Participate in in-service education programs as assigned.
• Promptly report changes in resident conditions to the Director of Health Services.
• Follow written and oral directions.
• Perform all duties assigned in an effective, cooperative, timely and professional manner.
• Be responsible for the safety of residents under their supervision.
• Work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies, and ancillary service providers.
• Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.

• Experience as a Caregiver and Medication Tech in a Memory Care Unit and or Assisted Living Facility.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Card.
• Experience in electronic medical records documentation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.
