We are seeking an MNA (Medication Nursing Assistant) to join our Farnum team! As an MNA, you will provide medication administration and documentation, as well as prescription facilitation services to in-house clients. This role requires the MNA to work cooperatively with all medical and clinical staff on the units and provide clients with prescribed scheduled and prn medications according to orders from licensed practitioners.
Additional Responsibilities Include
- Document all medication administration in client records (EHR), including any medication errors; discuss and document potential side effects with each client.
- Report any discrepancies in medication counts of controlled substances.
- Observe clients following medication administration to prevent diversion and document any refusal or missed dosages.
- Review, complete, and submit requests for prior authorization; follow up on outstanding requests.
- Assist with “Non-covered” medication faxes from pharmacies and collaborate with medical staff to resolve issues; follow up on outstanding forms.
- Complete Omnicare census to reflect client presence accurately.
- Report delays in obtaining medications to the Director of Nursing.
- Remain compliant with State and Federal regulations related to medication administration in residential settings and other accrediting agencies (CARF).
- Perform diagnostic measures prior to medication administration, such as blood pressure and blood sugar checks.
- Ensure medications are labeled correctly with client name, medication name, dosage, and directions.
- Follow the 5 rights of medication administration: right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time.
- Prepare medications prior to client discharge.
- Follow all policies and procedures, including those related to being a mandated reporter.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors and attend meetings as required.
- Receive supervision from multiple supervisors and cooperate effectively with clients.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Follow protocols for emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Completed an approved medication nursing assistant training program with certification from a state-approved program.
- Six months of experience as an LNA or MNA preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively and meet physical, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (if applicable).
Hours/Schedule
This is a per diem position.
Compensation
Starting at $23 hourly, with additional compensation based on experience and education.
