Job summary

Dartmouth Health seeks a Medication Nursing Assistant with NH MNA license to assist residents with daily living and medication administration. You will provide compassionate care within license scope and support independence and choice for residents.

You must think and act independently in routine and emergency situations, be self-motivated, and willing to learn. Flexible hours including holidays and weekends are required; BCLS must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must have completed Medication Nursing Assistant from accredited school and hold a NH MNA License.
• Must be able to think, act, and intervene independently in both routine and emergency situations.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including Holidays and weekends.
• Must be willing to learn.
• Must be organized and able to perform duties with minimum errors.
• Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Previous LNA/MNA experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of dementia care.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications and treatment in a timely manner within licensed scope.
• Ensures medications are locked in cabinet and keys with staff.
• Assists with activities of daily living (dressing, bathing, hygiene, mobility).
• Observes and reports changes in residents’ condition to nurse on duty.
• Assists residents to dining room or serves tray as needed.
• Provides/assists with personal laundry.
• Participates in recreation activities as needed.
• Responds appropriately in emergencies or disasters.
• Follows up on complaints and concerns with staff or residents.
• Documents resident incidents and prepares/maintains records.
• Assists in assessing needs, vital signs, and care plans.

PART TWO:FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

Position Objective

To assist the residents with those activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help. To foster residents' independence and freedom of choice at all times.

Performance Expectation

• Administers medications and treatment in a timely manner all while working within the scope of their license.
• Ensures all medications are locked in medication cabinet or drawer and keys are with staff member.
• Provides assistance with activities of daily living to include dressing and undressing, bathing, personal hygiene, mobility devices including monitoring of safe transfer and ambulation techniques, and care of ADL devices such as eyeglasses, contact lenses and hearing aids.
• Observes and reports changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to nurse on duty.
• Assists residents to the dining room or serves tray in the apartment as needed.
• Provide and/or assist with personal laundry when needed.
• Participate and assist with recreation activities as needed.
• Responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or disaster situations.
• Follows up with appropriate staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
• Documents resident's incidents.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge regarding Life line and PHB system, initiate problem solving if needed.
• Prepares and maintains resident records.
• Assists licensed personnel in assessing needs, vital signs, revising plan of care and establishing resident care routines.
• Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.
• Assists in orienting new residents and staff to the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
