Job summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking an LNA to support nursing staff in a per diem role. The position involves assisting with admissions, vitals, patient care, and daily tasks in a hospital setting.

Requires NH LNA license; high school diploma; BCLS within 30 days. Per diem shifts include 6a-6p or 6p-6a with competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• New Hampshire LNA license required.
• One year of LNA experience in acute care preferred.
• BCLS training preferred upon hire; required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Sets up rooms for new admissions and post-op patients.
• Performs accucheck controls when indicated.
• Makes beds and distributes meal trays; maintains clean patient rooms.
• Performs vital signs as scheduled and reports changes to Nursing staff.
• Provides clean linen and fresh water to patients as needed.
• Assists with AM/PM care and documents tasks in Meditech.
• Records I & O on flow sheets; empties Foley catheters and reports changes.
• Assists nursing with wound care and patient transfers.
• Responds to patient call lights and alerts Nursing staff.
• Performs other duties as directed by Nursing Director Medical Surgical Services.
• Demonstrates unit competencies for lift equipment and bed functionality.

PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

Position Objective

• As part of the Nursing team, and at the direction of the Registered Nurse, is integral in supporting patient and unit flow.

Performance Expectation

• Sets up rooms for new admission and post-op patients.
• Performs accucheck controls when indicated.
• Makes beds and distributes meal trays and maintains clean environment in patient rooms.
• Performs vital signs as scheduled on patient, charts on flow sheet and reports any changes to the Nursing staff.
• Provides clean linen as needed and fresh water to patient twice a day, or more often if needed.
• Provides AM/PM care/bathing as instructed by nursing staff and documents task within Meditech.
• Record accurate I + O's on patients flow sheets within Meditech on all shifts, empties foley catheters at end of shift and reports any changes to Nursing staff.
• Assists nursing with woundcare as directed.
• Assist PT/OT with patient transfers and ambulating.
• Answer patient call lights throughout the day, alerting Nursing Staff of patient
  needs.
• Perform Accu-checks on patients as ordered, notifying Nursing of results and charting.
• Performs other related duties as directed by the Nursing Director Medical Surgical Services.
• Demonstrates unit specific competencies regarding lift equipment, use of the electronic scales, HilRom bed functionality, all patient alarms.
