Job summary

IHA in Mason City, IA is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to obtain an accurate admission medication list through face-to-face interviews with patients, including prescriptions, OTCs, and herbal products. • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be a registered pharmacy technician or be eligible for technician/trainee registration in the State of Iowa. This must be completed prior to start of employment.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required within 6 months of employment.

What You Will Do

Also obtains and documents any known drug allergies and reactions. This may require collaboration with alternative information sources such as family, physician office, nursing home, or retail pharmacy.

• Problem solves and applies critical thinking skills in obtaining admission medications lists for a wide variety of patient populations.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be a registered pharmacy technician or be eligible for technician/trainee registration in the State of Iowa. This must be completed prior to start of employment.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification required within 6 months of employment.

Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status

Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.

Preferred

Two or more years of experience as a pharmacy technician (retail preferred) or allied health professional, with knowledge of medications including brand/generic names, available dosages, frequencies and indication
