Job summary

The Medication Assistant (MA) serves as caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per plan of care.

Provides assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities that may include, but are not limited to, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum age of 18 preferred.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Completes yearly competency testing and maintains continuing education credits.
• Minimum 12 hours of continuing education annually based on state requirements.
• Maintains department certifications and, if applicable, driver’s license and auto insurance.
• State-specific CMA/CNA certification requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under a charge nurse.
• Assist with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing and transfers as needed.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Document outcomes related to care, medications, behavior, activity, and diet.
• Communicate changes in condition and medication follow-ups to the charge nurse.
• Collect non-invasive specimens and vital signs; perform basic health checks.
• Provide housekeeping and laundry to keep living areas clean and operational.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and participate in team initiatives.
