Job summary

Missouri Slope in Bismarck, ND is seeking qualified Medication Assistants and CNAs for full- and part-time roles. The positions offer day and PM shifts, with a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a $3.00/hour shift differential for PM shifts.

Duties include administering medications via multiple routes, maintaining MAR documentation in the EMR, and providing direct resident care. Rotating weekends and holidays are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CNA certification from North Dakota.
• Current MAII certification from North Dakota.
• Successfully pass a drug test, background check, including criminal history, certification registries, and employment history.
• Annual influenza vaccination as a condition of employment with possible accommodations where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications by oral, topical, nasal, rectal, inhalers, or eye/ear/g-tube administration.
• Pass medications on a routine basis without drug calculations or assessments.
• Document and account for all drugs.
• Ensure medications are administered and documented on MAR using the EMR system.
• Administer direct personal care to residents.
• Maintain a safe environment by following safety policies and procedures.
• Assist transfers using mechanical lifts or manual assistance up to 60 pounds.
• Transport residents in chairs up to 30 lbs as needed.
• Encourage participation in activity programs and assist with transporting.
• Make and change linen on residents' beds per procedure.
• Respect resident rights and confidentiality.
• Support dying residents and assist families through the process.
• Keep notes in permanent records and report to the charge nurse.
• Demonstrate Missouri Slope’s customer service standards.

A minimum of 8 hours per pay period as a Medication Assistant or as needed. Other guaranteed hours may be scheduled as a CNA.

DUTIES:

• Administer medications that are oral, topical, nasal, rectal, metered dose inhalers, or those instilled within the eye or ear or through a g-tube
• Responsible for passing of scheduled medications that are administered on a routine basis and do not require drug calculations, dosage conversion, determination of need, or assessment of resident
• Responsible for documentation and accounting of all drugs
• Responsible to make certain all medications are administered and documented as stated on Medication Administration Record, utilizing the electronic medical record system
• Administers direct personal care to residents
• Responsible to provide a safe environment for residents and co-workers by following all established safety policies and procedures
• Responsible for using mechanical lifts and/or manually assisting resident transfers using forces up to 60 pounds frequently
• Responsible for transportation of residents requiring the physical act of pushing and/or pulling a variety of types of chairs up to 30 lbs. on a frequent basis
• Encourages the residents’ participation in the activity program and assists with transporting as needed
• Will make and change linen on residents’ beds according to the established procedure or according to the wishes of the resident
• Must respect and uphold resident rights in all regards including confidentiality of resident information
• Maintains vigil and care for dying residents and assist the resident and their family in coping with the dying process and death
• Keeps written notes and record pertinent resident information on the resident’s permanent record and report to the charge nurse

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Current CNA certification from North Dakota
• Current Medication Assistant II (MAII) certification from North Dakota
• Successfully pass a drug test, background check, including criminal history, certification registries, and employment history
• Completion of training as required by Missouri Slope
