Job summary

MediLodge Grand Rapids is seeking a Medication Assistant to coordinate and administer medications for assisted living residents, following physicians' orders and documenting procedures accurately.

You will work with a compassionate team, meeting state and company requirements while contributing to residents' well-being and safety. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Must complete training for medication handling per state and company requirements.
• Valid CPR/AED certification within 60 days of employment.
• One year nursing experience is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Follow the rights of medication administration and implement physicians' orders.
• Administer medications for assigned residents and document administrations or refusals per regulations.
• Communicate medication refusals, errors, and changes of condition to the health care provider.
• Notify prescribing professional if prolonged use of PRN medication is needed.
• Participate in orientation and in-service training.
• Ensure supplies are used economically and equipment kept clean and safe.
• Record pertinent observations and reactions.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Summary

The Medication Assistant coordinates and administers medication to assisted living residents as assigned.

Licenses/Certification

• Must complete all required training/competencies in proper handling and administration of medication as per state and company requirements.
• Valid CPR/AED certification within 60 days of employment

Experience

• One year experience in the nursing field is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Job Functions

• Following the rights of medication administration, accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders with medication administrations.
• Medication administration for assigned residents and documents administration or refusals per local, state and federal rules and regulations.
• Promptly communicates repeated medication refusals, medication errors, and actual/suspected change of condition to the appropriate health care provider.
• Communicates to the prescribing licensed health care professional if the resident requires prolonged use of an as needed (PRN) medication.
• Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
• Ensures that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner.
• Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

• Has a clear understanding of medication administration.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Skilled in documentation in electronically based health records
• Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
