Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Follow facility policies for administering medications to residents.
• Note and report errors in medication administration.
• Assist in developing procedures to reduce medication errors and prevent incidents.
• Complete required forms, charts, and reports as needed.
• Maintain professional relationships with nursing staff, physicians, and pharmacists.
• Report complaints or grievances to the Director of Nursing Services.
• Participate in quality assurance and medication-related committees or programs.
• Prepare, administer, and document oral and topical medications as ordered.
• Verify medications brought by new residents and follow destruction/documentation rules.
• Ensure medications are properly labeled and charted, and document discontinued meds.
• Notify nursing leadership of medication errors or adverse reactions promptly.
• Document resident vitals and verify resident identity before treatment.
• Assist residents in self-administering medications when appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident health information.
