Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience preparing Medicare cost reports in hospital systems or healthcare consulting
• Strong knowledge of hospital reimbursement including DSH, Medicare Bad Debt, Wage Index, S-10, and Medical Education
• Strong financial background with reconciling cost-report information to financial records
• Ability to research and interpret Medicare/CMS reimbursement regulations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with reimbursement data
• Experience with cost-report amendments, reopenings, and appeals

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of preparing and submitting Medicare cost reports for assigned hospitals with supporting schedules and reconciliations
• Reconcile reimbursement information to financial records and analyze third-party settlements and reserves
• Coordinate responses to Medicare and Medicaid audits and manage cost-report amendments, reopenings, and appeals
• Work with large reimbursement datasets and extract/validate/analyze data using Excel, SQL, or similar tools
• Monitor regulatory changes and collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and operations to maintain accurate reimbursement information
